Why I Started Yune: From My Pregnancy Journey to Yours

ree

Pregnancy can be such a magical experience. But it can also be… a lot. When I was expecting my little boy, I remember feeling completely overwhelmed by all the information flying at me.

I read a few books, but I found them quite dull and hard to get into. I went to classes in-person too, which were great but quite expensive and not accessible to all. And then I did a tonne of late-night Googling, only to discover half of what I’d read was written for mums in the US or Australia, not here in the UK.

And then there were the family conversations. Well-meaning relatives would share advice from their own experiences, and whilst it was always meant with love, it often left me doubting myself. I didn’t feel confident enough in my own knowledge to push back, so I’d end up questioning everything all over again and falling down yet another Google rabbit hole.

I’d also tried a few pregnancy tracking apps, but they were all about counting weeks, kicks and symptoms, with educational content tucked away as an afterthought. There was nothing out there that made learning the main focus and that’s what I really craved.

That’s when Yune started forming in my mind. I thought: what if there was something better?

I wanted to create something that was affordable, accessible for everyone, and always up to date with UK-specific guidance. Something that felt fun instead of overwhelming, like a friend cheering you on. That’s why Yune uses quizzes: they make learning stick, and if you don’t do so well on a topic, you can just try again until it clicks. No pressure, no judgement.

Yune is the app I wish I’d had during my pregnancy. And the best part? This is only the beginning. I have so many ideas for features I’d have loved as a new mum, and as our community grows, we’ll be able to invest in and launch even more ways to support you, through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

I hope Yune gives you the reassurance, clarity, and confidence I went looking for. Because pregnancy doesn’t come with a manual… but Yune is the next best thing, right there in your pocket.
